Drug Class and Mechanism of Action of Vasodilan

Vasodilan is a vasodilator (they cause dilatation of blood vessels) drug. By dilating blood vessels they can increase blood supply in areas where blood supply is deficient. It can also be used in other medical conditions as your doctor determines.

Therapeutic Uses of Vasodilan

Vasodilan is used in treatment of Raynaud's disease and other blood vessels disorders to improve blood flow, as this medication helps to widen blood vessels and blood flow increases in deficient areas.

Direction of use of Vasodilan

Follow your orders of your doctor or the directions given on the label of the medicine. The dose of Vasodilan may be different for different patients and you should confirm the dose of Vasodilan from your doctor or pharmacist if you have any doubt.

If You Miss a Dose of Vasodilan

If you miss a dose of Vasodilan and you are taking it regularly, you should take it as soon as you can remember it. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose of Vasodilan and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at a time to compensate for the missed dose.

How to Store Vasodilan

Vasodilan should be stored at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C). Store it away from heat moisture and direct light. Do not store it in bathroom and keep out of reach of children.

This medication is under trial and being investigated to treat dysmenorrhea, threatened abortion and premature labor.

Do not share Vasodilan with other and you should only use as it is prescribed for you. Do not use Vasodilan for other medical conditions without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if you do not get any symptomatic improvement or your symptoms worsen.

Precautions to be Taken While Taking Vasodilan

  • Do not use Vasodilan if you are allergic to it or any of the ingredients used in it.
  • Inform your doctor if you have any blood disorder or bleeding episodes etc.
  • This medication should be used only if clearly indicated during pregnancy. You should discuss the risks and benefits of using Vasodilan during pregnancy with your doctor. Small amounts of this medication may be found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Possible Adverse Effects of Vasodilan

  • Common and minor side effects of Vasodilan are dizziness, flushing, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea, trembling, weakness, nervousness etc. these side effects may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these common and minor side effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. You should limit your intake of alcoholic beverages and avoid overheating which will aggravate the effects like dizziness and lightheadedness.
  • Inform your doctor if you develop chest pain, a pounding heartbeat (palpitation), skin rash etc.
  • If you notice any effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
