Valsartan

yperDrug Class and Mechanism of Action of Diovan

Diovan is an angiotensin receptor blocker.

Diovan acts by selective blocking of the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in such tissues as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland.

As the diovan doesn’t inhibit ACE (kininase II) it doesn’t provide any effect on the bradykinin response. The Diovan doesn’t block or bind other hormone receptors that may be considerable in cardiovascular regulation.
