Drug Class and Mechanism of Action of Chloroptic

Chloroptic relates to antibiotic type of the medications. The mechanism of its action implies preventing bacteria to growth.

Therapeutic Uses of Chloroptic

This medication is used in order to treat such conditions as bacterial eye infections. Please note that this drug treats only such type of the infections and it will not be effective against other infections types. The improper use of the medication may decrease its efficiency.

However your healthcare provider may also prescribe this drug to treat bacterial ear infection. But it is not allowed to use it for ear infections in case you have a ruptured ear drum.

Attention! The use of the medication may cause severe and sometimes even fatal blood disorders. Thus it is advised to use Chloroptic only in case other safer drugs provided no effect. Contact your healthcare provider at once if you have any of the following symptoms: easy bruising or bleeding, permanent sore throat, fever or uncommon fatigue.

Direction of use of Chloroptic

It is advised to wash hands properly before applying the eye drops. Do not touch the tip of the dropper and keep it clean in order to avoid contamination.

Avoid wearing contact lenses within treatment period. Put them away into container in accordance to the manufacturer’s directions and ask your doctor when you are allowed to use them again. Throw your head back, look upward and pull down the lower eyelid. Commonly it is prescribed to place one drop into each eye 2-6 times a day or in accordance to your doctor prescriptions. After performing this look downward and close eyes for a couple of minutes. Put your finger onto the eye corner and press gently. This will not let the eye drops to leak out. Avoid blinking and rubbing your eyes. If needed then repeat the procedure. After applying the drops do not rinse the dropper and simply replace its cap.

In case you use certain other eye medications within the treatment period then you should wait 5-10 minutes before applying another drug. It is also advised to apply first eye drops and then ointments in order to get better effect of the treatment.

You should use the drug on a regular basis in order to get the best effect of the treatment. Apply the medication at the same time everyday not to miss the doses. Do not stop the treatment on your own even in case your condition improved. Stopping the treatment will contribute to growth of the bacteria and another start of infection. Let your doctor know in case your condition remains the same within the therapy period or gets worse.

Dose of Chloroptic, if Missed

In case you have missed to apply the medication do it at the moment you remembered about it. However it is advised to skip the dosage and follow your common schedule in case it is already a time for your next dose. Avoid taking two or more dosages at the same time unless you are directed to do so.

How to Store Chloroptic

The drugs manufactured by different producers are to be stored under different conditions but anyway in the place beyond the reach of the pets and children. It may be stored at the temperature below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F) or in a refrigerator at the temperature between 2-8 degrees C (36-46 degrees F). Avoid freezing the medication and keeping it in the bathroom.

Discard the product after the treatment is over or after the 21 days since you have opened the container.

Avoid flushing the medication into the toilet and contact your healthcare provider to find out the details about proper discarding the medication after the end of the therapy.

Your healthcare provider may already know about the drugs you use and monitor you for possible drug interactions. Thus you shouldn’t start, stop or change somehow the dosages of the drugs you already use without previous talk to your healthcare provider.

Let your doctor know about all the drugs you use before you start Chloroptic treatment.

Do not swallow the medication. In case it happened or you got an overdose contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Avoid sharing the medicine with anyone else as this drug was prescribed initially for your medical condition. You shouldn’t also use the drug later for the same or any other infection as you may need quite different treatment.

Your doctor may prescribe you various medical and/or laboratory tests within the treatment period in order to monitor your condition and possible side effects.

Precautions to be Taken While Taking Chloroptic

Before you start the treatment it is advised that you let your doctor know:
- in case you have any allergy as this drug may contain certain components that may cause an allergic reaction;
- your complete medical history and especially in case you have ever had such conditions as: eye infections caused by virus (herpes, varicella or tuberculosis, fungus), cases of bad reaction to the active component of Chloroptic, liver, kidney disease, anemia or if you ever got a radiation therapy;
- in case you are pregnant or going to become pregnant. The matter is this drug may be used only if clearly required within pregnancy period and is not allowed to be applied straight before or within delivery as this may harm a newborn (gray baby syndrome);
- in case you are within breast-feeding period as the drug appears in the breast milk and may harm the baby.

The use of the drug may cause blurred vision for a time thus it is not advised to operate any machinery until you are sure you may perform these activities safely for the others.

Possible Adverse Effects

The use of the drug may cause such side effects as: blurred vision, burning, stinging or redness. Contact your healthcare provider in case any of them remains for a long period of time or becomes worse.

Do not forget that you were prescribed to apply this medicine as your doctor decided that the possible effect of the drug will increase any possible side effects. Besides, many patients, using this medication do not have severe side effects at all.

Contact your healthcare provider at once:
- in case you get vision changes or problems;
- if you get serious allergic reaction though it is very unlikely to occur. The possible symptoms of the allergic reaction are: rash, swelling (face, tongue or throat), severe dizziness, complicated breathing.

You may get other side effects as well. So it is advised to contact your doctor in case you experience any side effect not mentioned above.
