Drug Class and Mechanism of Action Betnovate
Betnovate belongs to corticosteroid group (steroid) of medicine and it works by reducing inflammation thereby reducing itching, irritation, edema of skin etc.
Therapeutic Uses of Betnovate
Betnovate is used in the treatment of swelling, redness and itching of skin in medical conditions like psoriasis, eczema, seborrhea (excess sebum production from sebaceous glands of skin) and contact dermatitis.
Direction of use of Betnovate
Betnovate should be used as per direction of your doctor. Betnovate is applied over the affected skin 2 to 3 times as per the direction of your health care provider. The quantity of the medicine should be sufficient so that the affected area is covered with a thin film of medicine. The medication is gently rubbed on the affected area thoroughly. In some medical conditions your doctor may advice you to cover the area with a dressing.

Dose of Betnovate, if Missed
If you miss an application of Betnovate, apply it as soon as you remember and continue with regular application. If it is almost time for next application than skip the application and continue with regular application. Do not apply more quantity if you miss an application.
How to Store Betnovate
Betnovate should be stored at room temperature i. e. in between 68 to 77 degree Fahrenheit. Betnovate should be stored in dark, dry and cool room away from reach of children.

If there is no improvement of your symptoms of skin disease consult your doctor. Betnovate should not be used by other person except for whom it is prescribed.
Precautions to be Taken While Taking Betnovate
Betnovate should not be used by anyone if he/she is having the following medical problems:
- If you are allergic to betamethasone or any other corticosteroids or any of the ingredients of Betnovate.
- If you are suffering from viral infection (or disease) like chickenpox, herpes simplex, vaccinia etc.
- If you are suffering from tuberculosis of skin.
- If you have skin lesion due to yeast, virus or fungus.
Possible Adverse Effects
If you have any of the following side effects listed below, consult your doctor or other health care provider:
- Burning, itching or red spot on the skin.
- If you have any infection.
- If you are suffering from unusual sunburn in the skin of face, easy bruising of skin, thinning of skin etc.
- Delay in healing of any skin lesion line abrasion, cut or an injury.
- Hair follicles become red, painful and formation of pustules (pus filled blister).
- Continuation of severe burning and itching of skin.
If Betnovate is used for long duration and in excess quantity it can cause some side effects. Consult your doctor or other health care provider (though these side effects do not require medical attention) if you are suffering from any of the uncommon adverse effects of Betnovate for long duration like the list below:
- Dryness of skin.
- Irritation, itching and burning sensation of skin.
- There is increased scaling or redness of skin.
