Drug Class and Mechanism of Action of Beconase AQ
Beconase AQ belongs to corticosteroid group of medicine. It acts by shrinking inflamed and swollen nasal tissues. It also blocks action of some cells and chemicals of immune system.
Therapeutic Uses of Beconase AQ
Beconase AQ is used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis or nasal allergy symptoms. Beconase AQ is also used in preventing recurrence of nasal polyp (nasal growth) after its surgical removal. It can also be used as d per direction of your doctor.
Direction of use of Beconase AQ
Use Beconase AQ as per dirction of your doctor.
- Remove the cap and hold the inhaler upright. Than shake it properly.
- Have some water to moisten the throat.
- Exhale deeply as much as you can without discomfort. Hold the inhaler upright and close your lips around the mouthpiece of the inhaler and keep the tongue below it. Than press the inhaler and inhale deeply and hold your breath as long as you can without discomfort or at least for 10 seconds. Than remove the inhaler from your mouth and breath gently.
- There should be gap of at least 1 minute in between two inhalations.

Dose of Beconase AQ, if Missed
If a dose of Beconase AQ is missed than skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
How to Store Beconase AQ
Beconase AQ can be stored at temperature between 36 to 77 degree Fahrenheit or 2- 25 degree Centigrade. If date of the medicine has expired, than discard the unused portion of medicine.

Keep Beconase AQ out of reach of children. Beconase AQ is absorbed in minute quantity in blood, if at all absorbed, so the chance of interaction with other medicine is almost nil.
Precautions to be Taken While Taking Beconase AQ
Do not use Beconase AQ if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Beconase AQ and consult your doctor immediately if you are allergic.
Some medical conditions can react with Beconase AQ and you should inform your doctor or other health care provider if you have any of the medical conditions listed below.
- If you are suffering from severe acute nasal allergy with heavy running nose.
- If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breast feeding.
- If you are using any medicine like prescribed medicine, non prescription medicine, herbal medicine or any dietary supplementations.
- If you are suffering from viral (chickenpox, measles, herpes infection), bacterial (tuberculosis or a positive tuberculosis skin test), parasitic or fungal infections do not use Beconase AQ. You should not use Beconase AQ if you have had a recent vaccine, surgery, severe trauma or nasal ulcer.
Possible Adverse Effects
- Some people get side effects and some do not get any with Beconase AQ. If any of the common side effects become bothersome than consult your doctor. Common side effects include dryness of nose or nasal irritation, sore throat, nausea, headache, hoarseness of voice, change in taste and coughing.
- Get medical attention immediately if you have any of the uncommon but serious are atrophy of nasal mucosa (if used for long duration), allergic reaction (rash, itching, difficulty in breathing, feeling of tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), acne like skin rash, excessive sneezing, infection (fever, chills or sore throat), irregular menstruation, anosmia (loss of sense of smell), loss of taste, nose bleeding, weight gain, change in vision, increase in intraocular pressure.
