Shocks

Shock is nothing but a situation where very less amount of blood reaches the organs of the body. It is very serious and might even cause death as with blood the flow of oxygen and other important nutrients may be cut down too. There might be many reasons for shocks like a trauma or heart stokes or sometimes it may result due to allergic reactions too. Shocks may also be due to some infections that may be very old enough and severe too or also poisoning may cause shocks.

The following are the signs and symptoms of shocks:

  • The skin becomes cold and sweats a lot. Also the color might change to grey or become pale.
  • The pulse rate is abnormal. It might be less than normal or at times even greater than normal. The rate of breathing might be affected too. The air inhalation will be very slow and shallow. The blood pressure gets very low.
  • The eyes lose their beauty and look really dull. It might seem that the person is staring at some object continuously. Even the pupil seems to be dilated.
  • The person might lose his or her consciousness to in extreme cases. In case he or she retains their consciousness, extreme dizziness and weakness are expected. In certain extreme cases, the person might act really abnormally by being over-excited for anything. Sometimes also the person might seem over-anxious about things than normal.

Don’t conclude that he person is normal after any injury because many times a person might seem normal too, but isn’t actually normal. In such cases the following tips will help you:

  • Just call up any ambulance service you know or even 911 for that instance.
  • Make the person lie down in such a position that his or her feet are at higher than his or her head. This might increase the blood supply to the brain. It can be done by raising the legs. But in case this increases the amount of pain the person is going through, then just don’t worry and keep the person flat as far as possible. Don’t allow the person to move a lot too.
  • Check if there is circulation is going on properly. Just check the breathing and pulse. If they are abnormal then start CPR.
  • The person needs to be warm and at ease. To do this, just loosen the belts and clothes that he or she is wearing. Also to make sure warmth is maintained, cover the person with a blanket. Just make sure nothing is fed to the person via his or her mouth, even in extreme cases of thirst and hunger.
  • If the person is puking or bleeding from the mouth, just turn them on their sides. This prevents choking and the person feels eased up to a higher extent.
  • Just look for treatment of injuries, in case the bleeding is very high. In case of fractures, make sure the fracture bone isn’t stressed much.
