Poisoning

Many other disorders just show the same symptoms as poisoning. These include seizure, toxication due to alcohol, stroke and reaction due to insulin. Before you do anything, be sure that it is poisoning and nothing else. So for this just call up the poison centre at 800-222-1222 in the US or you can even refer to the list below for the symptoms of poisoning. Then go for medication.

How to Detect Poisoning:

1. The skin around the mouth and lips burns and turns red due to taking in certain toxic materials through your mouth.

2. A bad breath, especially similar to petrol or paint thinner indicated that you have been poisoned.

3. If you notice burns, strains or smells on the person or on his or her clothes or on the tables, or chairs or floor, he or she sat upon or anything that surrounds. This might be a sign of poisoning.

4. Just look at the medicine bottles or pills. If they are empty or scattered, then it might be the case of poisoning.

5. Trouble in inhaling air, excessive puking, drowsiness, trouble understanding thing or any other unexpected symptoms.

Need Assistance?

  • Just dial 911 or any other number when you notice that a patient is:
  • Sleepy, week and losing consciousness
  • Facing trouble in haling or the breaths are not blocked
  • Highly impatient and agitated
  • Having seizures

And in case you have a hard feeling that a guy is poisoned, but shows none of the above signs, then just dial the poison control centre at 800-222-1222. Just feed them with some information like the person’s problem and also about the kind of food he or she took and its intake quantity and intake time.

The assistance is coming? And you have to take care of the person:

  • If the person has a problem where he has been affected by toxic vapors or carbon monoxide, provide him or her with natural air.
  • If It is the case where a piece of toxic material has been gulped, then just remove anything that is remaining in the mouth
  • If the assumed toxicating material is known and identified as a cleaning agent used in the house, then read the label provided and find the instructions for unintentional poisoning. If the item is highly dangerous, then just call the helpline at 800-222-1222. Remember to call the given number even if the toxicating material is unknown or the label is not found or in case instructions are not found.
  • Just do whatever the helpline people ask you to do.
  • If the poison has fallen on the clothes or the body parts like the eye or skin, just take off the clothing. Just use warm or lukewarm or even cool water until the ambulance comes. Rinse properly for a long time.
  • If you happen to go to the hospital, just don’t forget to take the container when you go.

Just don’t do this:

Just don’t give the patient anything that will make him or her puke. It is the worst thing that can happen to someone badly poisoned.
