Tick bites
Ticks are tiny insects that live by sucking in blood from other mammals, birds, and sometimes even reptiles and amphibians. Ticks that are young have 6 legs and adult or grown up ones have 8 legs. Their size is approximately same as the size of sesame seed. Male ticks are black in color and the female ones have brick red abdomen and a black shield like plate attached to their heads. Ticks bite other creatures by detecting the carbon dioxide that the creature exhales out while breathing. Ticks can be found in wooded and forest areas of most parts of the world.
Ticks are known for transmitting bacteria and are capable of causing illness such as Lyme disease and the Rocky Mountain spotted fever. There is always a risk of being affected by one of these diseases after a tick bite, though affected by other factors like the area of living, and the amount of time spent in the woods. So one has to be careful and protect himself or herself from the bites of a tick.
Though any tick bite has to be avoided by taking certain precaution measures and being safe, but if in case a tick bites, the following tips will help you:
- The tick sticks to your skin after it bites you. You have to be really careful while removing the tick from the skin. Tweezers have to be used to hold the tick on its head or the mouth. Later, the tick has to be pulled of really carefully so that its body doesn’t get crushed or else some part of its body might stay stung into our body and might cause infection.
- The tick has to be sealed in a jar because the doctor might be wishing to have a look at the tick because It tells whether the tick is infected or not.
- One has to be really careful after handling the tick with his hand because it might spread infection. After removing the tick, wash the hands and surrounding areas with soapy water. Be aware that you do not touch any other parts of your body before washing your hands.
- If you are facing trouble removing the tick, then take some advice from your doctor.
An expert doctor has to be consulted when you develop a rash or have high body temperature. Sometimes even you neck might become stiff and muscles may start paining. The joints might pain badly and the body might develop some sort of soreness. This tick bite might also end up in flu.
Whenever you visit the doctor, try to bring the tick to the doctor, so that the doctor can examine the tick properly.
