Anemia is not a disease but one of the specific diseases symptoms. This pathologic condition is characterized by the decrease of the blood hemoglobin concentration and quite often by the general red blood cells amount reduction.

The term anemia appears as the syndrome within the diseases related to the affection of the blood system, or doesn’t depend of it at all. Anemia leads to the respiratory blood function decrease and tissues anoxaemia. It shows itself with the skin paleness, weakness, headaches, increased fatiguability, dizziness, short breath, tachycardia and etc.

The anemia may be diagnosed during the blood smear examination when the red blood cells size deviates to bigger or lesser one. This analysis is to be done with the help of the special device – micrometer. There is also a norms table of the hemoglobin content indices in 1 liter of the blood depending to the age and the sex.

The saturation of the hemoglobin with the red blood cells is defined by the color index. The norm is between 0.85 up to 1.15.

Anemia may appear without any onsets and thus may be revealed only in the laboratory. The light form of the anemia is characterized by the decreased attention, and fast fatiguability and ailment appear. In case of developed anemia the patients complain about short breath, buzzing in the ears, sleep disorders, the loss of appetite even at the slight work. The people with the most expressed anemia form in case of corresponding pathology may experience cardiac failure. Commonly the anemia may be diagnosed in case of expressed skin, mucous and the nail bed paleness. It is required to know the reasons and the pathogeny of the anemia. It also happens impossible to diagnose anemia due to lab tests. In this case the marrow puncture is examined. This will help to analyze the condition of the hematopoietic system and provide the correct diagnosis. After the type and the cause of the anemia have been defined the treatment is prescribed. Vitamin B12 and iron preparations are applied to treat decreased hemoglobin level. In case of extremely low hemoglobin level the concentrated red cells transfusion is applied. The treatment process is up to the patient condition and the anemia type.

It is also required (and very important) to arrange the correct nutrition. High-calorific products, more meat, liver, cream, butter, milk are to be included into daily diet. Millet porridges with yellow pumpkin as well as corn mess are very health-giving. It is advised to eat 100 gram of grated carrots with vegetable oil or sour cream in the morning on an empty stomach.
