Second-hand smoking increases the possibility of depression
According to the report presented at the American psychosomatic association meeting in Chicago the possibility of the depression in those people who don’t smoke but are exposed to the tobacco smoke at home or in the office is two times higher than in other people.
Marilyn Avias - the article author said “this report is the first research that concerns the second-hand smoking with the depression”. Another research that has reported the same result was carried out in Japan.
The first one in contrast to the Japanese one proved the susceptibility of the tobacco smoke affection via the check of the cotinine level that is the chemical substance appearing in the blood after the tobacco smoke inhalation.
According to the research author – Frank Bandeira – the member of the Medicine Chair in the Miami University the people with blood test showing their susceptibility to the tobacco smoke exhaled by other smokers demonstrated severe depression signs more often.
