Virtual poison kills children

Recently the scientists from the Iowa National Institute on Media and the Family carried out the research concerning the videogames effect on the teenagers. It was revealed that many teenagers are ready to borrow money from their friends, miss lessons and tell lies with the solely aim – to spend their time with joy.

According to the report of the professor Douglas Gentile – “We tried to find out the possible damage of the excessive attention of the children paid to virtual entertainments. It was revealed that every tenth gamer experiences certain problems in the real life.”

According to one of the news sources in the world wide web over 1000 thousand of the teenagers below the 18 years old took part in the research and the quantity of the boys and girls was almost equal. More than 90% of young Americans said that they play videogames, girls spend about 9,2 hours weekly at the PC or TV and the boys – almost two times more – 16,4 hours weekly. 8,5% of all gamers took part in the research was reported to experience pathological imitation of the games that caused various school and home life disorders as well as their own psychological disorders. Another sign of the strong dependence was the often ignorance of their daily works at home.

One fourth of the gamers asked explained their hobby by the will to avoid reality. Almost the same number of the gamers said that they spent the time intended for their home exercises playing video games. And 20% experienced certain problems with the study at the school. By the way, girls in contrast to boys tried to return to their home and school duties more often.

According to the scientists the videogames may be really considered as something providing certain effect on the gamers’ level of the study. Furthermore, due to the report issued by the scientists – “Considering the matter from the other point of view it becomes clear that those pupils experiencing certain problems in the school are playing games with the aim to feel some superiority unreachable in the common life.”
