The scientists revealed unusual feature of the beetroot

According to British scientists the intake of the beetroot juice increases the endurance of the human body and enables to increase the general activity for 16%. The say that the beetroot juice is healthier than the blackcurrant juice.

The Exter University researchers revealed that the nitrate the edible root contains decreases the body oxygen absorption and thus decreases the tiredness. Correspondingly drinking this juice the sportsmen are able to reach greater results than before.

The scientists monitored the condition of 8 males between 19-38 years of the age that drank 500 ml of the fresh beetroot juice a day during the experiment.

The experiment last for 6 days and the probationers were offered to make physical exercises including riding the exercise bicycle. For comparison the probationers drank blackcurrant juice for another 6 days of the research the BBC says.

After the end of the experiment the scientists revealed that drinking beetroot juice enabled probationers to ride the exercise bicycle for 11.25 minutes and 92 seconds longer than they could do drinking blackcurrant juice. Furthermore the beetroot juice decreased blood pressure.

The professor Andy Jones says: “We were astonished with the affect of the beetroot on the body oxygen absorption as neither of other applied medications provided such effect”. The scientists hope that their discovery will help those people suffering cardio-vascular and respiratory diseases to fight metabolism disorders and will turn into fine help for sportsmen.
