The fight against the lack of physical activity is more important rather than the one against obesity
How to get rid of obesity? Today there are certain controversies among the British Medical Journal experts. Professor Louise Baur, Westmind Child Hospital group of specialists and Sydney University (Australia) group accept that the “lack of the physical activity is one of the main reasons of global distribution of various diseases.
But according to Baur and her colleagues the low physical activity is only one marker. The say there is no sufficient proofs of the fact that incorrect nutrition with big portions containing low amount of cellulose and increased amount of sugar leads to obesity and corresponding diseases.
Nevertheless dr. Richard Weiler – physician and the expert of sport medicine of NHS Trust Imperial Healthcare college (Great Britain) and his colleagues consider that the insufficient cardio-respiratory (heart-breathing) endurance is the more important risk factor for different diseases than the obesity, waist volume and body mass index.
Weiler and his colleagues underline that:
Physical inactivity is one of the biggest threats for health that developed countries face today.
..and experts are worried by the fact that 95% of Great Britain population don’t follow the recommended 30 minutes of exercises at least 5 days a week or its substitution.
Such situation makes troubles considering that the lack of the physical activity and not simply obesity is the real reason of various diseases including obesity itself, heart disease, 2 type diabetes, mental problems, high blood pressure and dementia.
The scientist state that huge expenses spent for the obesity correction is quite wrong way. The loss of the weight via medications and surgeries are the dangerous ways to fight obesity. Its long term advantages are non perfect and have nothing similar to those advantages provided by the regular physical activity. The experts concluded that the time to start new policy in the healthcare area as well as medical staff with the aim to concentrate on the fighting physical inactivity that is “the chronic disease of the 95% of adults” has come.
On the other hand Professor Baur considers..
The increase of the physical activity will only have minor effect on the decrease of the already existing obesity level.
She states that people suffering obesity should be able to use high quality healthcare services provided by experienced medical staff so that they could get rid of the excessive weight and related disease.
In conclusion professor Baur and her colleagues stand for the fight against obesity with the help of spectrum of strategies such as improving lifestyle, diet and increasing physical activity. The experts state that city healthcare should direct its activity to encourage people to the less use of the car and more riding bicycles and make public transportation more available for population.
