Lymphadenectomy

means the surgery provided with the aim to remove lymph nodes and observe them to find out whether there are cancer cells in them or not. There are two types of this surgery. The regional one implies the removal only of the part of the lymph nodes located in the tumor area. And the radical lymohadenectomy means the removal of all lymph nodes located in the tumor area. This procedure is also known as lymph nodes dissection.
